NavigationArts Selected to Implement Coveo Search for ASHA

February 24th, 2009

NavigationArts, a leading user-experience design consultancy, has been hired by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) to improve site search on their public facing website. NavigationArts will provide user experience design and technical implementation services for the Coveo search tool.

ASHA is the professional, scientific, and credentialing association for more than 130,000 members and affiliates who are speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists in the United States and internationally. The organization’s vision is to make effective communication a human right, accessible and achievable for all.

ASHA is interested in making its website easy for its members to conduct work, academic, and professional education program-related research, and for its members and the public to find resources such as patients education material. Improving the findability of content through effective website search and navigation is the foundational requirement of meeting these website objectives.

NavigationArts’ user-centered approach will result in an effective search function for ASHA’s website. NavigationArts will first review content and then evaluate, refine, and configure content metadata to support faceted navigation and relevant search results. An information architect will design wireframes of search-related pages, providing clear priorities for user action. Finally, NavigationArts’ development team will provide technical services to install, configure, and customize the Coveo search engine.

“Site search is a critical issue for organizations – as important, and in some cases more important, than the site’s navigation,” said Leo Mullen, NavigationArts’ CEO. “We’re excited for the opportunity to implement effective site search for ASHA and fix one of the most prevalent problems in user-centered design today.”
