NavigationArts Participates in Potomac Forum Event October 30

McLean, Virginia — October 23rd, 2009

NavigationArts will participate in an event with the Potomac Forum on October 30, “Government Websites: Realizing Greater Transparency through Improved Website Strategy, Design, and Information Architecture.” The keynote speaker is Susan Thares, Director of Social Media Strategy for Federal Student Aid, part of the Department of Education. She will explain how she made College.gov an engaging and educational website by considering her audiences' needs and incorporating user feedback.

Kelley McDonald, Director of User Experience from NavigationArts, will give a presentation on how to create more usable government websites by applying the fundamentals of information architecture. Later in the day, Randall Davis, Senior Engineer and Technical Architect, and Shivani Aneja, Senior Information Architect, will discuss how to achieve effective site search, taking a look at the topic from an information architecture and development perspective.

In addition to presentations from NavigationArts, participants will hear from Michael Edson, Director of Internet Strategy for the Smithsonian, and Jason Shiavoni, Web Manager for DISA, and recent winner of 2009 WebAwards for Best Military Website and Best Government Website.
