Catholic University Launches New Homepage

McLean, Virginia — June 17th, 2009

NavigationArts, a leading web consultancy, today announced the launch of a new homepage and navigation scheme for The Catholic University of America (CUA) that better informs this site’s many audiences about the university. Through the redesign effort, NavigationArts designed a website that promotes Catholic University as a respected, comprehensive institution of higher learning; recruits new students, faculty and staff; solicits donations; and helps alumni stay connected with the institution and each other. The full site redesign is projected to be completed in fall 2009 when CUA converts 40,000 interior website pages to the new design.

"The new Catholic University website represents a significant and exciting advance in the way that the university communicates and markets itself to external audiences," said Very Rev. David M. O’Connell, C.M., Catholic University President.

"In order to meet the needs and interests of these different audiences, key stakeholders from across the university were closely engaged in developing this new site. The superior new homepage that has been unveiled today reflects that collaboration and is a harbinger of things to come as we convert the other university web pages," Father O’Connell said.

NavigationArts engaged in their proven user experience design methodology to create an engaging and appealing user experience that reflects CUA’s identity as a comprehensive university with a rich and prestigious research tradition. The new site design delivers a consistent brand identity and user experience across the general website sections, which later this year will extend to the university’s 12 schools.

"Providing a premier online experience that meets and exceeds the expectations of the core audiences is critical to success online," said Leo Mullen, NavigationArts’ CEO. "The new website offers a better sense of the Catholic University community and does a better job persuading prospective students to enroll."
