Hanley Wood and NavigationArts launch improved ebuild.com

February 5th, 2007

Hanley Wood has launched a streamlined and expanded ebuild.com, the web’s most comprehensive building products catalog. Featuring specifications and photos of more than 300,000 products from over 3,000 manufacturers, ebuild.com is a unique online resource for builders, architects, and homeowners. To organize and present the large volume of information on the site, Hanley Wood relied on NavigationArts, a leading user experience design consultancy with expertise in complex product databases and parametric search functionality.

NavigationArts’ primary tasks were to evaluate and increase the usability of ebuild.com for several different user types, such as builders and homeowners. It was a challenge given the site’s recent growth – more than 150,000 products were added since 2003 – and the inclusion of informative articles and videos.

“Ebuild.com provides a staggering wealth of information—good for the user but a particular challenge for the web site architect,” said Leo Mullen, CEO of NavigationArts. “We were fortunate to work with an excellent team at Hanley Wood as we pushed beyond best practices in online product categorization and search. We couldn’t be happier with the result: a site that is as usable as it is vast.”
