NavigationArts is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a full-time Senior Engineer/ Java Developer. The Senior Engineer / Java Developer leads a team of Java programmers in application development and integration with special focus on Web Application Development Integration. This candidate provides extensive experience and technical expertise for development and architecture experience and works on new and existing applications along with enhancing web sites, web applications, and back end infrastructure. This candidate is also responsible for full lifecycle development of new web applications and modifications that emphasize maintainability, reliability, scalability, and performance. The Senior Java Developer performs hands-on coding, supports customer oriented business applications as required, participates in technical and peer review processes, provides as needed customer relations, and builds scalable software solutions. Additionally, the Senior Java Developer provides technical guidance to client services and project management groups, participates in ongoing initiatives to improve processes, establishes best practices for the development team, and also performs other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 7+ years Java Development / Architecture Experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing systems with Java, J2EE, Java Server Pages (JSP), and Servlets
  • Experience with Oracle, JDBC, and O/R mapping (Hibernate)
  • Experience establishing a development environment (IDEs, installing open source web stack, Ant, Maven, and Subversion)
  • Possesses strong knowledge of Spring Framework/MVC, JSP, and Tomcat
  • Experience integrating unit testing, modeling, UML and design/architecture skills a must
  • Highly proficient in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information technology industry trends and emerging technologies, with an ability to relate these trends to the company and its objectives. Uses that knowledge, creativity and company practices to obtain solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
