Creating a Website to Match kajeet's Brand Promise

NavigationArts conducted a comprehensive site design for kajeet, the Bethesda based start-up offering a pay-as-you-go cell phone service for “tweens” (ages 8-12). The goal was to create a website that would convey kajeet’s product concept and value proposition, make it simple and satisfying for prospective customers to sign up online, and provide online account management for two distinct audiences—children and adults.

In the newly-architected kajeet.com, our consultants separated kajeet for Kids and kajeet for Parents, created role-based content and features, and prioritized the site structure around user goals. The new architecture allowed for sophisticated handling of complex account management concepts—billing at different account levels, parental oversight of cell phone usage during certain hours, and which phone features are enabled, to name a few. Customers tailor their account using the kajeet Configurator, an innovative, user-friendly web application that NavigationArts restructured to incorporate a full suite of tools, from the Wallet Manager to the Contact Manager.

Project results included:

• A comprehensive online strategy to drive sales through information architecture and user experience design
• A heuristic assessment of how users perform tasks on kajeet.com, including cell phone purchase and account configuration
• Interaction flows for key account activities, including activating phones, purchasing additional minutes, and giving a kajeet phone as a gift
• Content management services including a content audit, CMS recommendation (Magnolia Enterprise Edition), CMS implementation plan, and a content governance document
• Presented several design approaches
