IT Systems Administrator

The IT Systems Administrator provides technical expertise for system administration and ensures optimal system uptime and availability. This candidate acts as the single point of contact for resolving and reporting PC hardware, software, network and peripheral equipment problems. The IT Systems Administrator also installs and configures licensed software packages on laptops and PCs, and interfaces with our external service providers to ensure trouble free operations.

Primary duties include total system administration and business knowledge. Proactively identifies technology challenges and recommends solutions. Installs, configures, and maintains standard office automation, operating system servers (including web, mail, file, and database servers), websites, FTP, local network configuration, workstations, and security policies. Schedules installations and upgrades to both software and hardware equipment and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies, procedures, and best practices. Monitors and responds to internal trouble tickets. Develops help desk processes, procedures, and effective resolution systems. Also maintains an accurate and complete inventory of all hardware and software licenses, equipment, and warranties. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical subject and at least 3-4 years experience as administrator or technician of network systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Exchange, Windows Server 2003, SQL Server, Linux or UNIX, TCP/IP addressing, etc.
  • Technical knowledge of client operating systems such as Windows XP and 2003
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information technology industry trends and emerging technologies, with an ability to relate these trends to the company and its objectives. Uses that knowledge, creativity and company practices to obtain solutions to complex problems.
